Accountant

Role Overview

As part of our commitment to excellence in nursing regulation, we are seeking an Accountant to join our Finance & Business Support team. This position ensures the CRNA's financial records are complete and accurate, maintains the integrity of financial data and supports compliance with accounting standards.

By maintaining reliable financial information and providing timely analysis, the Accountant supports decision making across the organization, strengthens organizational credibility and contributes to the CRNA's role as a trusted and effective regulator.

Financial Record-keeping

Complete and review bank and accounts receivable reconciliations

Process and review month-end journals

Reconcile balance sheet accounts and review supporting documentation

Maintain supporting schedules, including capital and intangible assets, accrued liabilities, prepaid expenses and other accounting schedules

Investigate and resolve differences and variances in financial records

Reporting & Financial Statement Preparation

Complete and review monthly and quarterly financial reports and analysis

Liaise with budget owners to investigate and explain variances

Draft and review non-profit financial statements including statements of cash flow

Complete and review statements for defined benefit pension plan

Auditing & Compliance

Ensure financial records are maintained in accordance with Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations (ASNPO)

Monitor compliance of systems, processes and deliverables with CRNA policies

Participate in annual financial and pension audits, including drafting responses to auditor questions and providing audit samples

Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Analysis

Participate and provide guidance to budget owners in the development of budgets and forecasts

Develop and review financial analysis to provide insight in CRNA operations and financial results

Work with budget owners to identify areas to improve efficiency or find savings

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
CPA designation considered an asset.

Experience

3 - 5 years accounting experience.
Experience with non-profit accounting and ASNPO considered an asset.
Experience with Sage Intacct or similar accounting software preferred
