As a collaborator in Alberta's health care ecosystem, the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) is committed to supporting employers in fostering a professional, competent and ethical nursing workforce through Right-touch relational regulation.
Renewal for the 2024-2025 practice year has closed. Registered nurses and nurse practitioners in Alberta must now have 2024-2025 permits to be able to practice, regardless of setting.
Employers have a responsibility to ensure that their employees have active practice permits. Permit statuses can be easily verified at any time using the CRNA’s Employer Lookup.
Employers have an obligation to report any employees licensed by the CRNA who are not meeting the standards that apply to their practice, including those who may be practising with an expired permit. All complaints received by the CRNA are reviewed according to our complaints management process.
The recording and highlights from the Sept. 20, 2024 Council meeting are now available. The next Council meeting will be Dec. 13, 2024.
