As a collaborator in Alberta's health care ecosystem, the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) is committed to supporting employers in fostering a professional, competent and ethical nursing workforce through Right-touch relational regulation.
The CRNA works closely with employers and other collaborators in Alberta's health care ecosystem to ensure that only licensed individuals are practising. The CRNA has a number of processes and tools in place to support employers.
All registrants of the CRNA are required to renew their permits on an annual basis. Renewal will open on Aug. 1, 2024, and close on Sept. 30, 2024, for permits that will be valid from Oct. 1, 2024, to Sept. 30, 2025.
There is no change to the permit fee for the 2024-2025 practice year.
Individuals who do not complete their renewal application by Sept. 30 will not be entitled to practise on Oct. 1. Employers have a responsibility to ensure that their employees have active practice permits. Permit statuses can be easily verified at any time using the CRNA’s Employer Lookup.
The CRNA appreciates the skills and expertise that nurse practitioners (NP) bring to Alberta's health care ecosystem. Information about resources related to NPs, including the Government of Alberta's Nurse Practitioner Primary Care Program, can be found on our website.
