The College of Registered Nurses of Alberta's (CRNA) Artificial Intelligence: Practice Advice is a guidance document that helps registered nurses (RNs) and nurse practitioners (NPs) use artificial intelligence (AI) safely, ethically and professionally in their practice.
Practice advice helps registrants apply the standards of practice, code of ethics, continuing competence requirements and registration requirements to their nursing practice. Practice advice also informs the public, employers and other partners about what they can expect from registrants.
AI and other digital health technologies may enhance efficiency, accuracy and accessibility across health-care systems. The CRNA’s Artificial Intelligence: Practice Advice addresses the use of AI in RN and NP practice to ensure that these technologies support — not replace — nursing judgment, compassion and care.
