Complaints are referred to a hearing under the authority of the Complaints Director to address allegations of unprofessional conduct as defined in the Health Professions Act (HPA).
When a hearing is scheduled, the registrant and complainant will both receive a Notice to Attend, outlining the allegations that will be addressed at the hearing. This notice will be provided at least 30 days prior to the hearing date.
Hearings are generally open to public observation but are sometimes held in private at the request of the registrant (or representative), the Complaints Director (or representative), or the hearing tribunal itself.
There are different types of hearings:
Following the hearing, the complainant, registrant, and the Complaints Director will receive a copy of the decision. The written decision will be published on the CRNA website with the registrant’s name, in accordance with the publication requirements of the HPA and the College Bylaws.
Attend a Hearing
CRNA hearings may be conducted virtually or in-person. If you wish to attend a hearing as a public observer, please pre-register at least 72 hours before the scheduled start time by completing the Hearing Observer Registration Form. Requests received after the deadline will not be admitted into the hearing.
