The College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) is pleased to have its article Virtual Care Permit Program in Canada published in the January 2024 edition of the Journal of Nursing Regulation.
Virtual care came to the forefront of health-care delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic, and can provide numerous benefits to both patients and the health-care system.
This peer-reviewed research article discusses the work the CRNA did with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) and the Registered Nurses Association of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut to develop and implement a memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the jurisdictions for the provision of interjurisdictional virtual care services.
The article discusses the CRNA’s approach to meeting the healthcare system’s ongoing challenges and needs related to virtual care, as highlighted by a pandemic-era MOA across four Canadian jurisdictions to facilitate access to care while maintaining public protection.
