The College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) is proud to share that our CEO and Registrar, Joy Peacock received a King Charles III Coronation Medal.
These medals are awarded to individuals who have made a significant contribution to Canada or to a particular province, territory, region or community of Canada, or have made an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada.
Peacock received the medal in recognition of "her leadership as CEO and Registrar of the CRNA and transforming the application process to offer fast, affordable and predictable pathways for internationally educated nurse seeking licensure in Alberta."
This recognition underscores the importance of the CRNA's work in protecting Albertans and its contributions in strengthening the health care system.
During Peacock's time as CEO and Registrar, the CRNA has taken a lead role in identifying ways to make it as simple as possible for qualified registered nurses to obtain permits, helping to address Alberta's health care workforce needs. And, with Peacock's leadership in integrating innovative approaches like Right-touch relational regulation, we are able to deliver appropriate regulatory intervention for consistency in regulation and ensuring nursing professionals have achieved the necessary benchmarks for the provision of safe, competent and ethical care.
Peacock received the medal Feb. 20, 2025 at Government House in Edmonton. She is one of 30,000 Canadians who will receive this medal.
