The College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) is a finalist in the 2024 Business Transformation & Operational Excellence Awards, in the category of Best Achievement in Operational Excellence to Deliver Business Transformation.
In 2020, the CRNA began a significant digital transformation using technology as a strategic lever to improve our processes and bring more value to our registrants, staff and the health care ecosystem in Alberta.
The College developed an Information Management Roadmap as the foundation of this strategic plan, incorporating Lean, Design Thinking and Agile methodologies to design its processes and systems.
As a result, the CRNA has achieved several benefits, including increased support for registrants, decreased application processing time, support for a hybrid working environment, new skills and adoption internally of advanced technology, increased data access and security, paperless records, and a system designed to react to change and growth.
The CRNA continues to evolve its systems to adapt to changes in regulation and is now leading the way in leveraging technology and implementing innovative processes as a strategic partner in health care regulation.
