On September 30, 2022, Councillor Nicole Letourneau’s term as chair of Council expires. The College would like to recognize and thank Councillor Letourneau for her service as Council chair for the past two years. Councillor Letourneau was elected as chair in 2020 and was instrumental in the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta's (CRNA) quick and agile responses to legislative, regulatory and governance changes during a global pandemic. Under her leadership, the College has:
Councillor Letourneau provided steadfast leadership during the pandemic, and her time, commitment and dedication to the role of chair has been greatly appreciated. Councillor Letourneau’s last meeting as chair will be in September 2022.
To facilitate moving forward, the CRNA Council developed and approved a competency-based process to select a new chair. The process Council used is as follows:
The College is pleased to announce that Councillor Justin Burkett was selected by Council to serve as its chair, effective Oct. 1, 2022, to Sept. 30, 2024. Councillor Burkett was elected to Council in 2019, and currently serves on the CRNA’s Leadership Review and Governance Committee and is the chair of CRNA’s Nominating Committee. Councillor Burkett is looking forward to serving as chair and continuing to facilitate the College’s ability to protect the public and provide service excellence to registrants.
