Instructional Designer
At the CRNA, we are committed to enhancing learning and development through innovative and engaging educational experiences. As we establish a new Learning and Development program, we are seeking an Instructional Designer to contribute to the creation, design and implementation of impactful learning initiatives.
Reporting to the Manager, Learning and Development, this temporary, full-time position will play a key role in designing and developing learning programs, eLearning modules, and digital learning materials that enhance the knowledge and skills of the CRNA’s internal staff, registrants, applicants and the public.
As part of the Strategy Execution team, this role will collaborate with subject matter experts and internal partners to develop learning curricula, write content and implement instructional design strategies. The Instructional Designer will also support the maintenance of existing learning programs while contributing to new initiatives that align with the CRNA’s regulatory functions and internal operations.
Your Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to determine learning outcomes, write, review and revise content to ensure alignment with the CRNA’s policies, procedures and frameworks.
- Write content for learning resources and materials including eLearning modules, video scripts, storyboards, job aids, one-pagers and other learning materials, as required.
- Utilize learning technologies, create author learning materials, lessons and courses.
- Monitor learner activities, course completion, assessments and feedback.
- Develop asynchronous learning materials that utilize instructional strategies, assessments, eLearning interactive elements, visuals, graphics, audio, video and more.
- Collect and apply feedback on learning programs to ensure continuous improvement.
- Evaluate learning resources to ensure they remain relevant, accurate and up-to-date.
- Develop and apply ways to monitor the completion of learning materials.
- Utilize technology to enhance learning experiences.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal partners and subject matter experts.
- Remain up to date on the latest best practices for instructional design and learning technologies.
What You Possess
Education
- Diploma or bachelor's degree in instructional design, education or a related field.
Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in instructional design and creating learning programs.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills and Competencies
- Instructional Design Expertise: Proven ability to design, develop, implement and evaluate effective learning programs.
- Plain Language Communication: Ability to translate complex technical knowledge into clear, engaging content for diverse learning audiences.
- Technology Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft 365, with preferred experience in Articulate Rise, Storyline 360 and digital learning tools.
- Creative and Visual Design: Experience in graphic and video design is an asset.
- Collaboration and Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills to engage with colleagues and subject matter experts at all levels.
- Initiative and Problem-Solving: Self-motivated with strong judgment, creativity and attention to detail.
- Time Management and Organization: Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
- Teamwork and Positive Culture: Contributes to a collaborative, innovative and growth-oriented work environment.
